Why You Need Travel Insurance

Many people think about travel insurance only in terms of stolen or damaged travel items such as luggage, jewelry or an expensive camera.  In reality that is only a small part of why you need travel insurance.  The more important reason to carry travel insurance is to cover any accidents that could cause you to incur seriously large medical bills.

Let's take look at what could happen on vacation that did not turn out well.  Let's say you travel to Brazil and decide to take a day hiking trip through the rainforest.  During this day trip through the jungle you get fall and break a leg.  You have to be airlifted to the nearest hospital which happened to be 200 miles away.  Medical airlifts are not cheap as well as the hospital bill.  It's very easy to run up huge medical bills when on vacation.  Many family's have been put in very hard financial times that could have been avoided by purchasing an inexpensive travel insurance policy.
